Advanced Diploma of Children’s Services
Qualification Summary
In the Advanced Diploma of Children’s Services, students will gain knowledge and experience in all aspects of management of children’s services, including team leadership and responding to problems in a service environment. This qualification is designed for trained childcare staffs that are required to provide specialist services, act as a resource for other workers, supervise staff and volunteers and work with a range of clients including clients with complex needs. The Diploma of Children’s Services is a pre-requisite for enrolment into the Advanced Diploma of Children’s Services.
Training Methods
A combination of classroom learning, simulations, resource development, practical sessions, role plays, research and project work, plus work placement in a children’s services environment is a vital component of MEGT Institute child care courses. As part of the course students are required to attend compulsory practicum one day per week arranged by MEGT Institute. Students will be assessed in the workplace against key learning outcomes.
Assessment Methods
A combination of class activities, simulations, role plays, written assessments, skills demonstration, group work, projects, and work placement records will be used for the assessment of competency. Students will be marked either Competent (C) or Not Yet Competent (NYC) for each unit of competency and have the opportunity to obtain a Graded Mark for this course.
Pathways
Upon successful completion of the Advanced Diploma of Children’s Services students may be eligible for credit transfer to undergraduate studies at an Australian University. For NSW licensing requirements refer to the Department of Community Services Office of Childcare www.community.nsw.gov.au

Entrance Requirements
Completion of the Diploma of Children’s Services. Overseas students must be over 18 years of age and must show proof of their English language proficiency. Minimum requirement is IELTS score 6 or equivalent.
NOTE: All students will be required to complete a Prohibited Employment Declaration at enrolment for all MEGT Institute Children’s Services Course.
