Certificate III in Tourism (Retail Travel Sales)
Qualification Summary
This course qualifies you to become a skilled operator, able to apply a broad range of skills in a retail travel office or shop-front environment where planning of customers’ travel and touring arrangement takes place. Skills development includes issuing of tickets, using Galileo live on-line reservation and tour bookings system for domestic or international. The qualification reflects the role of skilled operators using some discretion and judgment and applying relevant theoretical knowledge to the travel industry environment.
Training Methods
This course incorporates a combination of classroom learning, excursions to events and relevant sites, practical activities, simulations, multi-media tools, workbooks, research and project work. Action learning links the learner to problem-based learning using case studies that show real world problems and solutions. Students will learn to use Galileo live on-line reservation and tour bookings system and will use Cross Check Travel accounting system.
Assessment
A combination of written assessments, projects, written tests and reports, simulations and role plays will be used for the assessment of all units of competency. Students will be marked either Competent (C) or Not Yet Competent (NYC) for each unit of competency.
Pathways
Upon successful completion of the Certificate III in Tourism (Retails Travel Sales), students may enroll in a course at a higher level.

Entrance Requirements
Completion of Year 10 at an Australian school or equivalent. Overseas students must be over 18 years of age and must show proof of their English language proficiency of IELTS score 5.5 or equivalent.
