Certificate III in Children’s Services

Qualification Summary

Certificate III in Children’s Services enables students to gain a working knowledge of child development, care giving principles and programming. Students who complete Certificate III will have the skills and experience necessary to care for children aged birth to 5 years in a supervised role in centre based care services.

Training Methods

A combination of classroom learning, resource development, practical sessions, research and project work, plus

work placement in a children’s services environment is a vital component of MEGT Institute child care courses.  As part of the course students are required to attend compulsory work placement one day per week arranged by MEGT Institute.

Assessment Methods

A combination of class activities, role plays, written assessments, skills demonstration, group work, projects, and work placement will be used for the assessment of competency. Student will be marked either Competent (C) or Not Yet Competent (NYC) for each unit of competency.

Pathways

Upon successful completion of the Certificate III in Children’s Services students may enroll in a course at the Diploma level. For NSW Licensing requirements refer to Department of Community Services Office of Childcare (www.community.nsw.gov.au)

Entrance Requirements

Completion of Year 10 at an Australian school or equivalent school level.  Overseas students must show proof of their English language proficiency.  Minimum requirement is IELTS score 5.5 or equivalent. Overseas students must be over 18 years of age.  NOTE: All students will be required to complete a Prohibited Employment Declaration at enrolment for all MEGT Institute Children’s Services Course.
