Thank you for your interest in wanting to work on board of cruise ships in the hairdressing, beauty & fitness Spa department operated by the company Steiner Transocean.

Steiner Transocean is an American company who has contracts with cruise line companies world wide.

Our company has contracts with 118 different cruise ships worldwide and Steiner Transocean only runs the Cruise ships hair salon, beauty & Fitness Spa department.

To be able to work in the International environment on board of Cruise ships, we need all our staff to speak, read and write a medium level of English.

Steiner Transocean information and interview days will only be held in English for the above reason.

These interviews and information days are free of charge and will give you much more information about ship life and our company Steiner Transocean.

You can register for an interview or information day in any country of your choice mentioned on our list.

When to sign up and when not to sign up for an interview:

We would like to ask you kindly to please not sign up for an interview if you do not feel confident with the English language. If your English is not yet strong enough, you can sign up for the information seminar, improve your English afterwards, and sign up for an interview day on a later date.

Because Steiner Transocean is contracted by the Cruise line company’s, who obtain a strict rules and regulations policy, your result of your interview day with Steiner Recruitment will depend on positions available in our department on board the Cruise ships, but also your appearance, your attitude and your professionalism.

We can only offer jobs on board cruise ships in the Spa centre for to the following professionals:

Employment information:

With Steiner Transocean you work on board a Cruise ship with an employment contract.

Your first time employment contract with our company is for 6-8 months, after

your first contract, you are able to do a second contract for a minimum of 4 months to

a maximum of 12 months.

Salary is on commission basis 9 – 16 % of all services done and all products sold in the Spa.

Only Spa receptionists will earn a basic wage, all other profession will not.

Tips are 15% of the service price, but up to the passengers to decide.

Monthly commissions range from 2000- 4000 US dollars.

Your commission is paid to you weekly in American dollars, tax free, cash and will include a worldwide medical insurance.

During your 6-8 month contract with Steiner Transocean your food and

accommodation on board a cruise ship is free and all paid for by Steiner Transocean.

Working hours are 5½ day’s a week with a 12 hour working shift and an 2 hour break during this working day.

Free time to see the countries you visit is 1½ day’s per week.

Where do the Cruise ships travel to?

Steiner Transocean has contracts with Cruise ships that are based in: Canada, North America, Caribbean, South America, Europe, Australia and the Far East.

What kind of people work for Steiner?

We would like to inform you that Steiner Transocean has more than 2000 staff working in our 118 Spa centres on board Cruise ships from all around the world.

The selection of new staff is organised all year around in the following continents: Europe, Canada, North America, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand and the Far East. Because of this we have international Spa teams on board the Cruise ships.

Most staff are the age of 21 to 35, but you can apply from the age of 19 and there is no age limit.

What languages do I need?

The only language you need is English medium level, all other languages are a bonus.

QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED

Massage/ Physio/ Spa therapists:

A diploma or certificates that covers a total of 150 hours practical and theory knowledge on full body massage is a basic need.

Acupuncturists:

A certificate or diploma of 3 year study in  Traditional Chinese medicine, certificate/ diploma will need to by licensend  by country’s health authority.

Also an qaulification in full body massage, acupunture and chinese patent herbs is required.

Beauty therapists:

Diplomas from Cidesco, Itec, Inter clinitique, ROC, or IA College are accepted.

We also accept National diplomas, but the education will need to be a minimum of 2 years and include the following subjects:

Face cleansing therapy, face electrical treatments, electrical body treatments, manicure, pedicure and full body massage.

Hairdressers & Barbers:

Diplomas/ certificates from a National college are accepted.

The education for hairdressers will need to be a minimum of 1 year.

Both hairdressers and barbers will need to have an additional 1-year full time work experience as a hairdresser or barber.

Fitness-Aerobic instructors:

Need to have two certificates as a basic need.

1/ PT training certificate or Sport academy diploma.

2/ Exercise to music certificate (Fisaf/AFA/ IFFA/ SAFE as example).

Any other courses such as Thai Bo, yoga, Pilates, circuit training, body balancing, spinning, Les Mills certificates are only a bonus, but not a basic need.

All Fitness- aerobic instructors need to have 1 year experience teaching exercise to music.

Nail stylists:

Need to have a certificate for the system acrylic nails as a basic.

This can be the creative system, easy flow system, OPI system.

Gel system is a bonus, but will not be accepted as a basic system.

Nail stylists need to have 1-year experience and be able to do a new full set of acrylic nails in 1 ½ hour’s time.

Spa Receptionists:

Do not need a diploma or certificate, but need to speak a high level of English, and one additional spoken language (any of the following: french-german-italian-potugese-spanish) and understand how to work with computers.

Your job will be at the reception of the Spa centre only, in charge of the appointments made for the hair salon, beauty centre and fitness centre. A bonus would be work experience as receptionist in a Fitness centre, Beauty centre, hairdressing salon.

INTERVIEW INFORMATION

If you would like to have an interview with Steiner Recruitment, the following documents need to be taken with you to the interview.

Please put all documents in a nice plastic file.

-       Your resume / CV

-      Two resent full-body photos of your-self

-      Photocopy of your passport ( not ID card)

-      Photocopies of your professional certificate/diploma

-      Steiner application document ( find attached in word document)

-      Dictionary English (for your English theory exam), pen and paper.

The below professionals will also need to bring the following with them to the interview.

All the Hairdressers-Beauty- Massage- Physio- Spa therapists will need to do a practical test during their interview, please bring with you:

-      Two big beach towels or bed sheet for the treatment bed

-      Treatment products for a face and body massage.

-       If possible a portable massage table.

Your practical test will be a 10 min back massage + 10 min face massage.

You will make your test to another applicant – and you will be also a model for another applicant !!!

Hairdressers:

• Fashion haircut and blow-dry on a female
• Shampoo and hair set on rollers on a female
• Glamour long hair up style for a Gala evening

Barbers :

• Fashion haircut and blow-dry on a Men
• Traditional  clean shave  on a Men

All the Fitness-Aerobic instructors will need to be able to teach both Fitness personal training sessions and exercise to music. Please prepare a VHS videotape or DVD  (in English only) with the following:

-           Introduction of yourself in English

-           You teaching a client during a personal training session all the fitness equipment in the gym (50 min)

-           You teaching a group of people a step or an aerobic class (exercise to music class, 50 min)

All the Nail stylists will need to do a practical test during their interview. Nail stylists will need to do a full set of acrylic nails with French finish.

Your treatment time will be 1½ hour.

-       An own model for your practical test

-      Two towels for your practical test

-      Your own equipment and products for the test
